People are saying…

"What I love about Yarm is the oldy worldy charm, the cobbles, the meandering river, the stone bridge, the viaduct, the diverse quaint shops, the town hall, the food choices, the ale houses, the castle, the fair, the history, the flood, the people!"

Where is Yarm?

Yarm is located in the Tees Valley, to the south of Middlesbrough and Stockton. It is just to the north of North Yorkshire, in the former North Riding of Yorkshire.

How can I get to Yarm?

Yarm railway station is about half an hour’s walk from the High Street. Transpennine Express services between Middlesbrough and Manchester airport stop at Yarm. From the station, there are taxi services. Alternatively, on foot, you can cut through the estates or go past Conyers School then turn left up The Spital.

The two buses are the 17A, 17 or X17 from Middlesbrough via Thornaby, or the 7 or 7A from Stockton via Eaglescliffe. You can find information from Arriva.

Where can I park?

You can park for one hour free, or for three hours on Yarm High Street for £1. If you’d like to spend all day in town, there are long stay car parks or other options such as renting a private drive for the day. You can download this leaflet for full information.

Are there public toilets?

The new toilet is accessible and has a baby change facility. It is located in the walkway beside the library, access via the main entrance. Opening times are Mon – Sat 7am – 5pm and Sunday 8am – 4pm.
There is no public toilet at the Town Hall, but many of the local hospitality businesses (pubs, cafes and restaurants) are part of the “Use Our Loo” scheme and happy for people to use their facilities if required.
